While we are all excited for the start of the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival on Wednesday, we still need to find some prices on Tuesday to build that bankroll. I like J N J Heartandsoul as a bit of a price in a turf maiden race at Horseshoe Indianapolis for a horse that is getting on turf for the first time. Sired by Grade 1-winning turf router Heart to Heart, this horse is bred up and down for the grass as she is out of a mare by Perfect Soul who is another Grade 1-winning turf router. Trainer Thomas Molloy debuted her on the synthetic in March at Turfway Park where she finished a competitive fourth while earning a 60 Beyer Speed Figure (BSF). The race produced three next out winners. Based off a promising debut, Molloy tried to get this on the grass at Horseshoe Indianapolis last time out but it was rained off the turf, and while she ran third, she was not nearly as competitive and saw her BSF drop by 11 points. Now, she gets on the grass and should relish the surface switch. She has two route races under her belt for conditioning and has shown effective speed to sit a tracking or mid-pack trip, which means she will not have too much to do before turning for home. Finally, Molloy has opted to use top track jockey Fernando De La Cruz on the mount. The two rarely partner up and it is notable where De La Cruz ends up in these types of maiden races, which gives you a little extra confidence in backing the selection as he is hitting at a 20% rate this meet.
