Longshot of the Day: Race 10 at Horseshoe Indy

Track: Horseshoe Indianapolis

Race 10: $50K OC going 6 furlongs on dirt for 3+

Post Time: 5:49 PM ET

Horse: #4 Bowstreet (10/1 morning line). Use as a win bet at 6/1 or higher.

I will often forgive a poor performance when a horse steps up in class, particularly when that coincides with going to a more competitive track, which is the case with Bowstreet. Trainer Paolo Lobo seemed to have found a home for this son of Into Mischief at Horseshoe Indianapolis this summer as the horse broke his maiden off a six-month layoff followed by an easy N2L allowance win a month later. Based off those two strong performances, Lobo decided to take a shot in a $125K optional claimer at Keeneland that might as well have been a stakes race. Bowstreet finished fourth while tiring late but finished behind a trio of accomplished horses who would all be heavy favorites in this race including Grade 2 winner World Record, multiple stakes placed Agoo, and stakes winner Slider. No shame in losing to that trio. Now Bowstreet comes back to Horseshoe Indianapolis and while the field for Wednesday is tougher than what he faced previously in Shelbyville, Indiana, it is also a lot easier than who he knocked heads against last time out. While Bowstreet has very good early speed, both of his wins have come tracking or stalking the pace, which is a helpful versatility because there is a good amount of speed drawn to his inside, but he should be able to track just off some of those horses in a comfortable trip. Lobo is winning 22% of his entries at Horseshoe Indianapolis and is hitting the board at a 44% clip. In Bowstreet, he has an interesting horse that seems to be at home at a secondary track like Horseshoe Indy but could eventually progress to be competitive at a higher level. He has finished in the exacta in five of seven career starts with his only two off the board efforts being a stakes attempt in his second career start and his effort last time out. Six furlongs might be his maximum distance, but his ability to rate should give him a good shot today.
