The Saturday after Thanksgiving features a Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks prep races in the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) and the Golden Rod (G2) at Churchill Downs. Historically, the Golden Rod has been one of the most predictive Oaks prep races as the race has produced the last FOUR Kentucky Oaks winners (Secret Oath, Pretty Mischievous, Thropedo Anna, and Good Cheer). This year's renewal features a competitive group of 12 runners including #11 Bella Ballerina who is the half-sibling to Oaks winner Pretty Mischievous. Meanwhile, the Kentucky Jockey Club has been hit or miss as a Kentucky Derby producer, but featured two horses last years who made the starting gate (Tiztastic and Render Judgement).
