As for a longshot, let’s kick off the Late Pick 5 with a little 8/1 shot with Cara’s Dreamchaser who I believe has a lot to offer in this race. The daughter of Blame is getting on the grass for the first time after running over a wet track in her first two starts. She showed very little in debut at Saratoga back in July as she finished 15+ lengths back going six furlongs over a muddy track. Trainer Mitchell Friedman tried to get her on the turf in her next start, but it was rained off the grass, so she had to contend with another wet track where she finished a distant fourth in a 10-horse field. She did show some improvement compared to her debut effort and I believe the surface switch will be a huge assist. Blame is a fantastic broodmare sire, and I tend to like his fillies when they race as well. Plus, he has always been a good turf influence with his offspring hitting at a 13% clip in turf routes. Additionally, she has a nice female family for turf success as she is out of Dreaming of Cara who was a stakes placed turf router. She has been a productive mare to this point as well as she foaled Cara’s Dreamer, sired by The Factor, who is also a stakes placed turf router as she was 8-14 in her career hitting the board on the grass. She has been working well leading up to her first turf effort and should appreciate stretching out as well as she does not possess the sort of speed necessary in sprints but should get away in good order going longer on the turf with jockey Dylan Davis aboard. Davis has ridden her in her first two starts, so it is great to see that he stays on the mount and there is no class drop by the connections.
